Ive just started playing tennis this summer like a month ago and Im going to try out for my school JV team in a week. I need tennis tips really badly so that I can do my best at try outs. Sometimes i hit the ball too hrd, adn sometimes I aim very badly. My backhands aren't the best wither, but theyre getting there. Im not very worried about serving, but tips on that could help too!

  1. Practice with a friend everyday to help you hit the ball better, as they say practice makes perfect.

  2. okk well you need to make sure that everything you eat in the next week is pretty much all healthy as in fruits, veggies and try and stay away from sodas and replace that with water, all that can make such a big difference in your tryout! you need to wear the right clothes and i suggest a wristband. make sure you go to sleep at like 12 or 1 and not like 3 or 4 in the morning. with hitting it too hard, i know its easy to hit it around the world but take control over the ball and you choose where the ball is to go! serving seems fine for you and for backhand, why dont you just go outside and hit the ball against your garage and hit it back using backhand every time you hit it?? that will help and good luck!

  3. Always, always stay bouncing on your toes, don't stop moving.

Make sure to hit the ball pointing your outer shoulder to your target- it will help direct the ball where to go.

Hitting the ball with a lot of force to make it go out is a bad thing, but try putting some more topspin on the ball (ask your instructor about this) so that you can hit it forcefully and still get it in.

Make sure to recover after each shot.

Try working on your grips- eastern for forehand, continental for backhand. Don't go immediatly to your continental grip for a serve if you haven't practiced like that for a while- it'll be very hard and chaces are you won't get it in.

    Good Luck! xD

  5. In the week play every day for two hours and then one hour the day before.  It may sound a bit tiring but it will get you much better.  You will see.

  6. get into a good rhythm with your footwork... the best thing in tennis is to have good movement

to move well you have to be bouncing in between shots and to move to the ball always stay balanced and when you can, move not by taking long strides but rather steps called double rhythm

to practice this step put a round band around your ankles and kind of hop around with your stance open and this is the way you should move when you have time... when you dont, take long strides and always get to the ball with your racquet already back, you upper body balanced and once you are almost to the ball take a step with you right leg on your forehand(assuming you're right handed) put your weight on this leg (the stance should be open by now with your hips facing the net and your right leg slightly behind your left) and hit the ball in the center of the strings

try to make solid contact as often as you can
