Ive been trying to do topspin, and Im just a beginner, so I cant just always think "okay ive got to do topspin on this hit". Its hard for me and i usually just hit it. Ive gt tryouts in 3 days, and I have to learn how to not hit the ball too high and hard. Tips?

  1. Net clearance is actually a good thing. You want your ball to go three or four feet above the net.

To hit a topspin forehand, make sure you're hitting out in front with your wrist laid back. Your stroke should have an exaggerated low to high motion. When you make contact with the ball, brush up on it, and follow through over your shoulder ALL THE WAY.

Whether you prefer an open stance or a closed stance doesn't matter when it comes to topspin, but you should start your motion with your knees bent. As you make contact, rotate your hips and extend your knees.

    Hope that helps!

  2. Dont open your racket face. Keep it flat. I recommend tennis lessons.
