Tennisracket: accessories?

Hi, first of all i'd like to mention that i'm not English, so please forgive my fault

I like tennis, but i have a question about the little thing to restrain and absorb the shocks (it's the best way i can explain it)

1. What is the name of such little thing.

2. Should i shove it against the horizontal string, or should it only make contact with the vertical strings

I know this question isn't very clear, but i hope that the people with some knowledge of tennis will understand me and help me. Thx for answering!

  1. Its a "vibrazorb," or vibration dampner.  There are numerous ones that have different names.

    It has to be below your bottom cross string


  2. It is called a dampener or a shock absorber.  It is put along the vertical strings.
