After a string of poor results, Paris Saint-Germain players are questioning their ability to bounce back and Carlo Ancelotti is now looking to turn things around for a side that’s running at low morale
As things stand, Paris Saint-Germain trail Montpellier by two points. On Sunday, La Paillade lost 2-1 away to Lorient and onus was on PSG to get a win in Burgundy against relegation-doomed Auxerre. However, after leading 1-0 for most part of the game, Carlo
Ancelotti’s men drew the game 1-1 and failed to take any advantage from Montpellier’s slip-up.
The recent results apart from the Clasico win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 have posed a lot of question marks over PSG’s credibility and mental strength.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti is not happy with the state of things and has called on his players to turn things around.
“We will no longer laugh now,” a phrase dropped by the former AC Milan manager. Lack of smugness, humility and defensive excitement as Ancelotti put it, are the main reasons why the Parisians are struggling in the final sprint for a much-revered Championelle.
Yesterday, the faces of players were tense at Camp des Loges. Before training resumed a one-hour session was conducted in which every player’s performance against Auxerre was discussed. Nene was also criticised for a missing an opportunity. The Brazilian
reportedly told his family that “the week was going to be hot” for him.
The rugged individualism displayed by the former AS Monaco mean has not impressed his teammates and the coach. Many feel that Nene’s actions on the pitch could even cost the side their first Championelle in over 18 years.
Another sore subject that was discussed was Lugano’s introduction late in the game.
“We’re not here to please him just because he was recruited by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056. We play for the title! Lugano is not good and all week he complained. He played with gritted death. The staff knew, so why bring him in?” said a player who requested anonymity.
PSG are going through a delicate period and in-house fighting might cost them the title. Ancelotti needs to quickly find a way to change things if he is to guide the cash-laden egos to glory.
