Terence Crawford to defend his undefeated streak against David Rodela on ESPN FNF show – Boxing News
Terence Crawford, the surging young American lightweight, will defend his undefeated streak against a bit more experienced fellow countryman David Rodela, in an eight-round bout which will be held on Friday June 8, 2012.
The duo will meet on the fight card of ESPN2’s weekly boxing show Friday Nights Fight which is being headlined by the non-title 10-round bout between Kelly Pavlik and Scott Sigmon.
The showdown is being jointly organised and promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank and Corona Extra and the ring for the extravaganza will be set up at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
The night will be co-headlined by another non-title eight-round bout between Jesse Magdaleno and Carlos Valcarcel. Terence recently gave a detailed interview and shared his thoughts on various matters.
Crawford, 24, has been in a total 16 bouts and boasts an undefeated streak. The young Omaha Nebraska proud has nailed 12 of his opponents by sheer knockout and possesses a pretty lethal raw powered jab.
The orthodox pugilist has the unique honour of undergoing a sparring session with Timothy Bradley, the man who is scheduled to take on Manny Pacquiao. After the session even Timothy praised the abilities, talent and resilience of Terence, the reason why
he is being denoted as the favourite by most critics.
At the same time, his opponent David, 29, is also being dubbed as possible winner as he has also sparred with some very big names such as Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton and even Antonio Margarito. But all these facets do not intimidate Terence and during the
interview he vowed to win the bout at all costs.
Crawford stated, “I don’t get all that excited about who this guy has sparred with or this or that. Everyone knows that sparring isn’t the real thing and styles make fights. As far as his style goes, it doesn’t matter because I will adjust to whatever he
brings to the table.”
Rodela, 29, a California resident, has been in a total 24 bouts. David has grabbed just seven of his total 16 wins by knockout and is seriously overshadowed by Terence’s knockout and win ratio.
The bout is a golden chance for Terence to prove the world that he is a quality brawler and can easily be a part of main events. Crawford remarked that it is all about winning the bout whether it comes via knockout or by decision.
Crawford stated, “That has been the goal for every one of my fights. I know the fans want knockouts and if it is there I will take it.....but in the end it’s all about that “W”.” The bout will be a classic one and the odds are substantially in favour of
Terence who boasts a flawless resume.
