Teriyaki and Finnish taste buds?

Question

I am making dinner, and I was wondering if a Finnish person would enjoy a sweet teriyaki sauce? This is probably totally different to what they are used to. ( Then again, maybe they will like it and it just depends on a persons general taste?) Any ideas?

As most vegetables are scarce in this northern country, the Finns show great ingenuity in using potatoes in soups, broths, stews, etc.

Fish is a prime ingredient of Finnish meals

A sweet teriyaki sauce? Nice idea.

Here's a recipe  for Sweet-Sour Sauce, nice for meatballs.

Finnish equivalent is "Hapanimelakaslike"

2 tablespoons butter

2 tbs flour

1 cup beef broth

1-2 tbps vinegar

1-2 tbs sugar

Melt the butter in a pan and stir in the flour until blended. Slowly add the beef broth, stirring over medium heat until the sauce is thickened and smooth.  Season to taste with the vinegar and sugar  Makes about 1 cup sauce.

They have all kinds of foods in Finland.   I was in Helsinki and they had a McDonald's and everything.  Some Finnish foods are a bit weird to me though.  Their concept of licorice(which seems to be VERY popular there) is quite nasty to me.  I remember buying some thinking it was cheap, but the price was per Hectogram(100 grams or about 3.5 oz) Then I tried it, and it was AWFUL!
