Term for phrases getting misinterpreted?

I was wondering if there was term for sentences or phrases getting misinterpreted.

For example, it starts out: Billy just got the a new T.V. for his living room.

It comes out, through gossip, as: Billy is getting hot with a T.V. actress in his living room.

Is there a term for this, or is it just misinterpretation?
