  1. The Young Persons railcard offers a 33% discount on most standard fares, although no discount on first class fares.

To qualify for one you must be between the ages of 16 and 26 or in full time education of not less than 35 hours a week.

Minimum fares apply before 10a.m. Monday - Friday, except on bank holidays and every day in July and August.

The card must be carried and produced for inspection whenever a discounted ticket is being used. Failure to produce the card will result in the full fare for the journey being charged, as if no ticket was held.

  2. what about them?

  3. There is no such thing as a Student Rail Card.

You can have a Young persons Railcard which covers 16 to 25 year olds

Educational Rail Cards, which are availiable from your local educational board and normally entitle the holder between 33% to 50% reduction in a Season ticket which can be used to get the student from home to college / school only between certain hours of the week.

I am not aware of any TOC's that offer much other discounts.
