  1. Possibly, but not for hundreds of years or longer, unless our knowledge about how to do so dramatically increases.

  2. What a bunch of pessimists! Yes, we'll terraform Mars, and probably Venus, too, and sooner than any of these guys think. Am I the only one here who's heard of nanotechnology? It's development is going to revolutionize everything, and make terraforming of planets a relatively trivial matter. Solving the energy crisis will be simple as a pimple, and will happen within only twenty years. By then, we'll have photovoltaics that are dirt cheap, and efficient enough to supply us with all the energy we'll ever need.

People, the pace of technological change increases EXPONENTIALLY, and we're just at the point where it's starting to really ramp up. In fifty years, none of us will be able to recognize the place, it will have changed so much, and must I add - for the better.

We are on the brink of a golden age unlike any before it. Let's all get with the program, shall we?

  3. Terraforming would take thousands, if not tens of thousands of years. Besides i dont think the human species wont last that long to even terraform mars

  4. we are probably going to terraform mars. it'll probably happen sometime in the next 500 years.

  5. I expect Mars will be changed in less than a thousand years. It won't be shirt sleeve like Earth, just much better.  One plan claims it can happen in under one hundred years.

We may even change Venus.  After fixing the atmosphere, a Sun/Venus L1 sun shade could be put up, as well as an equatorial shade.  Cool ideas.

But how does one start Venus rotating?  Tell her a really funny joke?

  6. what do u mean

  7. probably not.  Terraforming would take thousands, if not tens of thousands of years.  Humans like instant results and wont pay for anything else.  In addition our civilization is petroleum based and petroleum resources are running out.  We will be lucky to revert to a mid 19th century technology level.  More likely as resource depletion triggers shortages, wars will result and civilization will descend into anarchy.  Mass starvation will ensue.
