Terrance Cauthen replaces Derek Ennis takes on Demetrius Andrade on ESPN Friday Night – Boxing news
ESPN’s epic and most watched upcoming Friday Night Fight show was almost jeopardised when Derek Ennis, the USBA light middleweight champion forfeited his engagement against Demetrius Andrade, an IBF light middleweight title eliminator bout, because of a
103-degree fever.
According to details, the sudden pull off by Ennis created a bit panic among the ESPN’s management and programme coordinator lines but later on with just two days to go in the show, Terrance Cauthen, the former USBA light middleweight title owner, was found
available and hence was scheduled to take on Andrade replacing Ennis.
Ennis, currently International Boxing Federation’s number nine ranked light middleweight was reported to have got a severe flu which eventually led him to get a 103-degree fever hence making him unavailable for the brawl. It must be kept in mind that Terrance
is replacing the 31-year-old Ennis at a very short notice.
Terrance, renowned as the Heat has been in a total 44 brawls and is far more experienced than his age fellow Demetrius. He has lost to only seven opponents and nailed 36. The only aspect that gives Terrance a huge upper hand over Demetrius is his experience.
Andrade, nicknamed as Boo Boo, has been in a total 15 brawls as far as his stats are concerned he has an impressive resume.
Boo Boo has made all his 15 challengers receive boos from the crowd. He has not lost even a single bout. What makes him more lethal is his knock out ratio. He has knocked 10 men out flat on the ring floor. This aspect gives Andrade an upper hand over Heat
but not that much since latter is far more resilient than the former.
The clash is also being dubbed as a one-on-one encounter between two former Olympians. Both have appeared in Olympic events and secured medals. Ron Katz, promoter Demetrius Andrade and owner Banner Promotions said, "I'm lucky to get a guy with the pedigree
of Cauthen on such short notice. It's not often you'll see two former Olympians fighting each other."
The only problem that Cauthen will face is his sparring while keeping in mind his January 21 right handed opponent.
Katz revealed, "He's not happy because he trained six weeks for a right-hander and now he is faced with a completely different style."
It must be noted that both men are southpaw, left handed pugilists. The 10-round brawl will take place at Mohegan Sun Casino situated in Uncasville, Connecticut, United States.
