Terrell Owens avoids questions on his controversial remarks about Dallas Cowboys’ QB Tony Romo
Former Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver, Terrell Owens, who has left the National Football League (NFL) and is currently playing of the Indoor league, does not want to ‘bring up’ old issues and did not prefer responding to a question regarding his controversial
remarks about his former teammate, Tony Romo, the Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback.
It is pertinent to note here that Owens has played in the NFL for 15 years. It was only the last year when he was unable to gain attraction from any team of the league and was forced to think of other options.
During his NFL career, he spent three seasons at Dallas and his association with the Cowboys was apparently not very ideal.
He was involved in a few issues with other teammates and also brought the franchise’s owner, Jerry Jones, under the line of fire following his release from the team.
Recently, he also criticised Romo and said that the quarterback had something do with his departure from Dallas. Owens alleged that Romo used to send more passes to other receivers and ignore him.
However, Owens now claims that he has ‘moved on’ and does not want to bring old issues up again.
While speaking with KESN-FM's Ben & Skin recently, Owens denied giving answer to a question about his earlier statements on Romo and said:
“I tried to avoid the question, and I think everybody is jumping down my throat because they felt like I was bringing up old issues. I never brought up the Tony Romo issue. I’ve moved on from that.”
He mentioned the role of different media outlets in highlighting his remarks and said that he would not give such remarks again, adding that he wanted to be himself.
He said:
“All these media outlets took these sound bites and made them into headlines. People that were on the fence about me as a person or a player, they’ll be like oh that’s the same old T.O., but the thing is I’ve moved on from that.”
On the other hand, he also tried to clear the air by thanking Jerry Jones for giving him a chance to play for the Cowboys.
