Terrell Owens brings Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo in the line of fire – NFL News
Terrell Owens might not be playing in the National Football League (NFL), but he is making his presence felt in every possible way.
Whether it is taking a shot at those who, he thinks, ‘destroyed’ his future or his claims of returning to the league even after knowing the fact that he is 38 years old, he somehow manages to stay in the spotlight.
This time around, he has criticised his former teammate Tony Romo, the quarterback for Dallas Cowboys.
In a radio interview, Owens alleged that Romo had something to do with his departure from Dallas. Not only that, Owens also said that Romo preferred wide receiver, Jason Witten, over him and sent more passes to the latter.
He said:
“Man, that’s a guy I shed tears for, I went to bat for. Then obviously, ultimately I’m not in Dallas anymore and I know he definitely had a hand in that. So, again, it’s one of those things that you kind of just have to bite your tongue and keep moving on,
you know what I mean?”
Owens started his NFL career with San Francisco 49ers in 1996. He joined Philadelphia Eagles in 2004 and later joined Cowboys.
He was involved in a lot of controversies when he was with the Eagles and his association with the Cowboys was also not very commendable as he reportedly took support from other team members to lodge a complaint against Romo throwing more passes to Witten.
However, Owens thinks that he was not the only one who thought Romo was favouring Witten over him. He commented:
"I just happened to be one of those guys that really voiced my opinion. I wasn't the only one who thought that way. There were games that other guys were open. I wasn’t saying that to get the ball thrown to me a lot more times. I wasn’t saying that to get
the ball thrown to me a lot more times."
After being released by the Cowboys, Owens also criticised the franchise’s owner, Jerry Jones, and said that Jones had promised not to release him. However, Owens said, he was cut out of the team despite being given assurance.
Owens is currently playing for the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League (IFL).
