Terrell Owens tells Darrelle Revis he's no slouch
The trash talking has already started ahead of the New York Jets meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals on Thanksgiving Thursday 25 November, and Bengals receiver Terrell Owens has called out Jets cornerback Darelle Revis, who is expected to cover him.
Owens, when asked to comment on what he thought of Revis, described him to reporters as, "Just an average corner to me."
Owens went on to add that he felt that Revis had built his reputation on a single successful season-last season, when the Jets went all the way to the AFC Championship.
"No disrespect. He's only done one thing for one year," Owens said. "You talk about shutdown corners, you need to repeatedly do it year-in and year-out. I think he did it one year and everybody made a lot of hoopla about it. I think he started feeling himself,
then he wanted to come out and say that I am a slouch."
Revis was not surprised by the comments made by Owens, nor does he seem all that concerned with the way that Owens has been playing recently.
"Yeah, I called him a slouch last year," Revis revealed during a conference call Tuesday. "That's how I felt at that point in time because of the two games that I did cover him. He didn't have great games against me. But I mean, it's good that he's looking
forward to it. You know, I wouldn't expect anything less from him. I'm sure he's l*****g his chops for this game and will try to come out and compete."
Owens has had a fantastic year so far and is third in the NFL in receiving yards, and tied for third in receptions, which means that Revis should have his hands full.
The Bengals, as a team, haven't been doing quite as well as their star receiver and have the NFL's longest active losing streak which now stands at seven games.
