Terrelle Pryor says he'll return for senior season
According to a report released by The Associated Press (AP) on Thursday 11 November, Terrelle Pryor plans to return for his senior season.
“I'm a Buckeye until I break all the records,” the Ohio State quarterback told reporters while preparing for his team’s Saturday showdown against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
The junior play-caller, who has steadily improved in each of his three seasons at the helm, stated that he has (at least for the time being) no intention of bolting college early to experience the life of an NFLer.
“I feel like I want to get my degree and finish off strong and maybe have a better season next year with no losses,” Pryor said. “I love being here and I need to develop more knowledge as a human being and not worry about money and stuff like that.”
Despite his impressive career record of 29-6 in nearly three years under centre, Pryor insists that he’s still got more to accomplish, both on a personal level and for his university.
“I want to get my degree, so I can finish that up,” he said. “I want to have a legacy here and maybe someday get my jersey hung up. That’s one of my goals here as well. I think I just have to develop my brain, develop my mind and the way I’m thinking and how
I control situations.”
Pryor’s coach, Jim Tressel, obviously holds his standout in high esteem, and is elated that his QB has decided (for now) to return to the school for his fourth and final season. “He is a guy that wants to make a difference for his team,” Tressel told reporters.
“If he could do anything so that his team would succeed, he would do it.”
After losing three games in his freshman campaign, Pryor has lost just three others in the nearly two years since. But that hasn’t seemed to change his outlook, for better or worse.
“I’m a big thinker,” he said, “and I look back at it as you’re playing all these games and if you keep playing this game a long time you’re going to take a lot of losses and I'm going to win a lot of games.”
The QB could, of course, eventually decide to declare for the 2011 NFL draft at season’s end, but if both sides get their way, Pryor and the Buckeyes will undoubtedly be celebrating a lot of wins next season as well.
