Terrence Williams cautious about his return
After missing his team’s last three games, New Jersey Nets swingman Terrence Williams said that he will be cautious and will not rush his return, although he declared that he is “dying” to
play for the Nets again.
“It's not something I want to rush, honestly, and hurt myself again,” said Williams, who missed the Nets’ last three games with an abdominal strain. “I'm dying to play basketball. Really,
it seems like forever. This is like, ‘You’re fine whenever it stops hurting.’ There’s not really a treatment you can do for it.”
The 23-year-old guard-forward also admitted that is he is still feeling a lot of pain when doing certain movements during their recent workout, and he still doesn’t know when he will be back
in full shape for the Nets.
“I don't think I had a setback,” said Williams, who is averaging 8.7 points and 4.8 rebounds in his first six games this season. “It's just certain movements hurt. Some things I feel all
right but when my legs open and I try to turn, it's like a throbbing pain”
Nets head coach Avery Johnson, on the other hand, said that he understands Williams’ situation although he is hoping that they will have him back on their four-game road trip that will start
on Monday 15 November against the Los Angeles Clippers.
“That's what happens with an abdominal strain. An abdominal strain and a hamstring are the worst. So he's just going to have to fight through it,” said Johnson. “We'll evaluate him again.
Get him on a court in Los Angeles get some shots up and see how he feels. We hope to have him at some point on the road trip.”
And when asked if Williams would need to undergo an MRI to know the real extent of the injury, Johnson said that their team trainers will decide on it after evaluating the second-year guard
before Monday night’s game. “Athletic trainer Tim Walsh is going to make that determination and our doctors,” he said.
