My daughter is going through a terrible two stage at 16 months old. She is very smart for her age and understand everything that I tell her after one time but she has a terrible attitude here lately. These last two months she has been throwing the worst fits. And every time I tell her no She gets mad throws her arms up and goes and hits something or gives me a bad look and makes a screaming grunting sound like she is gonna hit me or something. I dont know what to do. Do u spank kids this young or what. I mean they are not going to sit still if you put them in time out. So what do u do. I cant take much more. She goes around hittin stuff when she is mad or throws the biggest fit when she dont get her way. She will not sit in a buggy at walmart without throwing a fit and screams and fights with me everytime I sit her in a highchair at a restaurant. Half the time she dont even cry tears when she is throwin a fit she just hollers. Im gettin so tired of this. What can I do.

  1. have to take her out of the area when she can not be calm...

and even baby Jesus got a swat on the butt as a terrible two...

a 2 yr old is starting to comprehend and get very frustrated over everything...

  2. My son just turned 2 1/2, and about that time, (about 18-19months) was when my little angel, turned demon...lol.  What I did...which doesn't work all the way,....but has helped a lot is I make him go into a certain spot in my house that is time out.  If she doesn't stay there keep putting her back, and when she finally does stay...make her stay 1 minute (a minute per year).  I do spank him on the butt if he continues not to listen, not hard, but the littlest tap devestates them.  I would not recommend taking a child that age out to dinner.  At walmart, if she throws a fit, pick her up and just leave.  And when you get in the car, tell her why.  Just try not to lose your temper, and yell, because my son gets worse when I yell.  Good luck!  Can't wait for this to end!!!

  3. "Spare the rod, spoil the child."

Do not actually use a rod, but I hope you get the moral of the message.

To prevent future incidences, lock your child in the bathroom for three minutes or more with the lights off, and don't let them out despite their cries. If this fails, you should probably smack her with some force, not too much.

Hire a babysitter if it's really bad. I also suggest at an early age to put them in a daycare, or have them take up an instrument or sport, like karate or piano. The teachers won't take your daughter's bullshit.
