Terrific Trump leading Higgins, 10-7 – 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship Final
Bristolian Ace potter, Judd Trump, has ended his second session with a 10-7 lead over John Higgins, in their best-of-thirty-three frames final match of the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship. This event is being held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
The Three-time Crucible winner, John Higgins ended the first session at 4-4, hoping that he will dominate his opponent in the second session. However, everyone was left flabbergasted, as the twenty-one-year-old, Trump, completely turned the tables. He won
six out of the nine frames in the second session and ended his campaign with a commanding 10-7 lead.
The overall score-line between both players as of yet is 64-19, 76-1, 38-73, 54-74, 5-115, 113-0 (102), 68-69, 56-19, 20-64, 67-45, 68-0, and 127-0 (103), 38-63, 25-64, 77-18, 60-9 and 69-36.
The Wizard of Wishaw, Higgins, dominated the opening frame with a decisive break of 60 to lead 4-5. He was also leading by 45-0 in the next, before his younger opponent clawed back and levelled proceedings at 5-5, with an impressive clearance of 32 points
under pressure.
The 35-year-old Scottish professional was not given a chance to pot any ball in the following eleven and twelfth, as the Englishman knocked in mind-boggling breaks of 58 and 103 in both frames, respectively.
He also would have taken the thirteenth frame but he was unfortunate, as Higgins fluked a snooker of his own and took the frame. Higgins also managed in winning the following fourteenth without doing anything outstanding, to level again at 7-7.
Higgins was not able to win any other frame afterwards, as Trump mopped up frame-winning breaks of 49, 48 and 45 in the last three frames, respectively. Higgins was also fined £250 for conceding the sixteenth frame when there were enough points on the table,
to force a respotted black.
Higgins had an excellent chance in the last frame to reduce the deficit, before he missed a black off the spot and blew the golden opportunity. Both players will start-off with their third session today and Trump will now need eight more frames to be the
second youngest Crucible winner ever.
