Terrified of Roller Coasters?

also, I dont want to get over my fear to make my friends happy, I want to be able to go on the rides and have a good time like everybody else. Also my goal is not to get on kinda ka, nitro or el torro, its to get on like batman or medusa or something.

on the way up TALK. like nonstop, i usually talk about shopping or what i'm going to do later that day or the weekend. anything to distract you.  

i personally find it easier to close my eyes, at least for the first time. and SCREAM. loudddd! i think it helps.

then ride it a few more times until you get more comfortable and it turns fun!

i have two ways for you;

1) watch videos of them on youtube

2) ride nitro even though u said u dont want to do it anyway that was my first sixflags rollercoaster and i was nine =]

also if u scream alot on it its kinda fun

Try not to think of it. Entertain yourself with other things while going thru the line. Don't if you're going to pass out. Maybe look at them first for a long while. They are really fun.

I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!

But go on Kingda Ka because believe it or not i asked like 4 of my friends and myself that you don't get that dropping feeling on it!

I used to love roller coasters as a kid. Now I hate them. I hate the drop too, it feels like you are going to fall out of the ride and your seat! You can try to get over the fear but if you don't enjoy roller coasters why force yourself to ride them. You can stil have fun with your friends if you ride other rides at six flags.

Don't do it!

I hate roller coasters as well and i wouldn't go on any just to make my friends happy. Explain your fear to them and they should understand. Stand in line with them and offer to hold their stuff when they get on. Try to  find rides that you can enjoy together as a group.

i loved coasters until i was 7 and wanted to ride an "adult" coaster. it scarred me until i lost a bet to my dad at the age of 15 and he made me ride "The X" which is like the craziest coaster in the world. i begged and begged to get something else but he wouldn't back down. i sat down in the seat and my heart was going so fast i thought it was going to pop right out of my chest. when the coaster finally came to a stop a minute later i couldn't wait to ride it again. i think if you just go for it you muscle your way through the start of the coaster you will finally be cured of your "coasterphobia". .

Well I will give you the best advice that my best friend gave me he told me that whenever I am afraid to close my eyes and think about something I really like and it will be over before I know it he does that too.

I know how you feel, i used to be crazy afraid of rollercoasters too :(

Here's how i got over it:

First I went on small rides and had some fun on them.  Then I started working my way up, going on bigger rides.  It was kinda scary stepping up, but I just worked at it, and now I LOVE rollercoasters.  One time I even went on a freefall ride that drops you 200ft in only a harness!

I'm sure you can do it too...believe me, i know that feeling you're talking about it, and you can't just switch it off.  Just work your way up to the bigger rides and remember that it's all very safe.

just relax...just take a not so treffied ride first just take a easy ride...step by step

there is a rollercoaster in six flags supper kiddy barley any drops and only has one big drop i reapet i was 5 when i rode it didnt break a sweat im veryyyyyyyy scared of roller coasters too that is the only ride i will ever ride its called like sometheing minner good luck
