Terry Etim will battle against Edson Barboza at UFC 142 in Brazil – UFC News

Brazilian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Edson Barboza will fight against British MMA fighter Terry Etim at UFC 142 on January 12, 2012. The event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be the first time these two fighters will face each
other.

The 25-year-old Barboza would be entering the UFC ring with an undefeated streak. He made his professional MMA debut in April 2009 and has won nine straight bouts in his career with no losses and no drawn fights. He made his UFC debut at UFC 123 against Mike
Lullo and at UFC 142 he would be contesting in his careers’ fourth UFC bout.

His opponent, the 25-year-old Etim from England made his MMA debut in May 2005 and has been a long time MMA fighter. He has won fifteen bouts in his career with three losses. His latest win came against Edward Faaloloto at UFC 138 in November 2011 when he defeated
Faaloloto in the first round of the fight.

For the event to be held in Brazil, the UFC has booked Brazilian MMA fighters into the main round fights and in the preliminary rounds. This has always been a strategy by the UFC to place hometown fighters in fight cards so that bouts can become attractive
and also becomes a crowd puller. Barboza would be feeling lucky to represent his country at UFC 142.
On the other hand, Etim might be a bit rusty for he returned into the octagon fighting ring after a period of nineteen months and won the bout at UFC 138. He could face some resistance from Barboza for he has a winning streak and
would be confident when entering the ring.

UFC 142 would be an exciting one for the fighters and also for the UFC fans. Brazilian MMA fans have always been enthralled by such events and in January 2012 they would get a great event in the form of UFC 142. Other Brazilian MMA fighters which are taking
part in UFC 142 are Jose Aldo, Vitor Belfort, Rousimar Palhares, Thiago Tavares, Yuri Alcantara, Fabio Maldonado and Erick Silva. Fans in Brazil would be anticipating a great event as many big names from the Brazilian MMA circuit would take their stance inside
the UFC ring.
