Terry Francona remains confident ahead of 2013 season – MLB Update
Terry Francona, the new Cleveland Indians manager, is showing his confidence ahead of 2013 Major League Baseball season. He knows well that in the coming days, the Indians will be out practicing ahead of new season’s Spring Training while he has still to
evaluate some players’ past season’s performance.
Francona, on the whole, is happy to start his new beginning with the Indians after spending some eleven years in the Boston Red Sox. Recently he talked to several media personals, who asked him questions regarding his previous relationship with the Red Sox
as well as with his current team.
Lately some speculations came out in the media that Francona’s leaving Red Sox is somewhat related to some personals issue of his. However, while answering all other questions, Francona also made slight comment on that later issue.
“I think it’s a little bit of a misrepresentation, If you really think about it, all of September (2011) wasn’t like me and you guys were feuding. We had an awful September. It was a tough, uphill battle for us, we were leaking oil every day, but our biggest
concern was trying to get to the playoffs,” Francona said in detail.
He further added, “We didn’t deal with any of those (other) issues until after the season. It’s kind of weird. I didn’t have a chance to sit back and think about not having that job. Two days later, I was defending myself. It was hurtful.”
After Francona was named as new Indians manager, many in the Indians roster showed their gratitude for him. He is a well respected man in the league and as soon as he was named the Indians’ skipper, the experts started rating high the Cleveland Indians next
potential seasons’ overall performance.
Came as a player in the biggest baseball league in the world, Francona showed his early brilliance with the Montreal Expos along with Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers.
Later after taking retirement from the game, he started his managerial career. So far he has managed Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox while his new era with the Indians is about to start.
