Terry Francona to announce official Boston Red Sox batting line up today
Terry Francona was recently available in Houston to comment on the starting lineup for the Opening Day duties with the Boston Red Sox. The club was present in Texas to play an exhibition game when the skipper announced that he will soon be releasing the
list of players that will be fielded at the Rangers Ballpark on Friday. That date, which has now been confirmed as today, is now sure to drive the fans raving mad with anticipation.
They will see a lineup similar to the one that played in the exhibition game recently. The Red Sox are looking to field a perfect combination of players, as they aim to put the 2010 American League champions to the sword. The Texas Rangers will be heading
into the fixture with Christopher John Wilson who has replaced Cliff Lee in the starting lineup.
The Red Sox will be inducting in Jarrod Saltalamacchia as catcher; Marco Scutaro will go in as shortstop, while Adrian Gonzalez will be standing in on first base. Dustin Pedroia will be marshalling second base, as Kevin Youkilis will be hovering near the
third base. J. D. Drew will be standing in on the right field, Jacoby Ellsbury will be stationed on the centre field position, and Carl Crawford will complete the outfield by covering the left field. While Josh Beckett will be pitching, David Ortiz will be
the designated hitter.
"The lineup we're playing tonight is the lineup I'm comfortable with, but I'll tweak it a bit," said Francona. "I've looked at the first three days [of the season] trying to map it out as much as I could." Since Wilson is one of the premier left-handed pitchers
in the American League, Francona wanted to take extra time in planning the lineup.
"He gives you pause to think a bit because he's so tough on lefties," said Francona. "But it is Opening Day. So I'm trying to figure out how I actually feel about that."
The Red Sox will be hoping to do their best if the mentioned line up goes in to attack on Friday.
