Terry Francona to be interviewed by the St. Louis Cardinals – MLB News
As the retirement of Tony La Russa still resonates in the enthusiasm and pride-filled victors, the St. Louis Cardinals, Terry Francona will be interviewed to determine who takes charge of the team. With the race on for assuming this huge responsibility,
Francona stands a big chance to lead the St. Louis Cardinals.
Francona who discharged managerial responsibility for the Boston Red Sox at a time when the team were struggling and ultimately rose to prominence by winning the 2004 World Series since the team had won it in 1918 the last time. Prior to that, he had served
the Philadelphia Phillies for four years.
He then he guided the team to the 2007 World Series victory which still has enduring memories. However, with the performance of the Boston Red Sox in 2011, which was at worst, a disappointing experience, led to his departure, prompting a huge change in the
setup.
In 2004, under his auspices, the Boston Red Sox managed a new record of 98 wins in the season which to-date remains the second-best in the history of the American League. He has also won 1000 victories as a manager, being the second Red Sox manager to achieve
this honour, behind Joe Cronin.
But with the dismissal that came his way in 2011, Francona attracted considerable media attention as to what his fate as a professional manager of Major League Baseball will be. The 52-year-old, it goes without saying, has all the impressive credentials
to make a deep impact on any team looking for a top quality manager.
He now seems to have a huge opportunity to turn this interview into another accomplishment to take the reins of a strong side in MLB as the St. Louis Cardinals are the indisputable World Series Champions of this year.
When Tony Francona took charge of the Boston Red Sox, the team was virtually in tatters. However, he got the pieces together and turned it into a solid form. It will be interesting to see how he does it with the Cardinals if he gets the chance to lead the
team in 2012 with six favourite candidates lined-up for now.
