Terry Griffiths announced Director of Coaching for Paul Mount’s On Q Promotions group
Paul Mount, the chairman for On Q Promotions, has announced that Terry Griffiths has joined the company as their new Director of Coaching.
The former 1979 World Snooker Champion Griffiths, who also is one of the only seven players to have completed snooker’s Triple Crown, is considered as one of the world’s leading coaches.
Paul Mount said, “I am absolutely delighted that Terry has agreed to join On Q Promotions and the South West Snooker Academy. Our aspirations for the sport dovetail perfectly and I am totally confident that with Terry on board we will continue to introduce
more players into snooker and nurture the young talent with Terry’s guidance at our purpose-built facilities at the South West Snooker Academy.”
Mount also believes that On Q Promotion will very soon produce a world champion now.
Griffiths, who is renowned for his slow and cautious style of play, also commented, “I am really excited about this opportunity. The On Q players include opponents who I played as a professional, players who are real contenders for titles and also the new
young talent at the start of their careers. It is a wonderful mix of players and I am looking forward to working with them.”
Griffiths also trains new coaches and is a member of WPBSA coaching team, along with Chris Lovell and six-time world champion Steve Davis.
Tony Drago and a six-time Crucible finalist, Jimmy White were among the first ones to congratulate Griffiths on his appointment.
Griffiths on the course will also be help some established names which include the Whirlwind, White, Tony Drago, world’s number thirty-three, Robert Milkins and Michael Wasley.
He told the media though he has been coaching other world champions, he would feel more pleasure by seeing a smile on the faces of young boys aged nine or ten.
On Q Promotions group, which was founded by Mount in June 2010, has been visited by ninety professionals on the world tour as of yet.
