Terry Hutchinson’s Artemis Racing hits St. Mark’s Square victory – Sailing Update
Sailing fans present at the Venice waters witnessed some outstanding sailing display from Terry Hutchinson’s Artemis Racing crew as they cruised into St. Mark’s Square victory. With this win, the Artemis Racing team pocketed €30,000 prize money along with
Arzanà City of Venice Trophy.
The Arzanà City of Venice Trophy was organized by the Compagnia della Vela di Venezia. The event is a part of the America’s Cup World Series.
The two Luna Rossa crews, Piranha and Swordfish, who were on the top podium place on the opening day, were not able to retain their leading position and took the second and third podium positions.
The forecast on the racing area was strong as the heavy winds brought wild conditions. These circumstances were definitely troubling for the participants because the breeze was blowing up to 20 knots when the races took place. Artemis Racing crew was impressive
on the Venice waters.
Speaking to the media, Hutchinson said that they faltered a little bit early on but were able to hit the reset button after a marvellous comeback in to the race. After that, the tactician of the team showed a great brilliance and took advantage of the favourable
winds to reach the leading spot of the fleet followed by Luna Rossa crews.
Meanwhile, the Luna Rossa crew, Piranha and Swordfish failed to perform after the first day of the regatta and they tumbled down in the lower standing positions
Speaking to the media, Luna Rossa Swordfish helmsman, Paul Campbell-James said that their team really enjoyed sailing on the Venice waters. The winds were blowing up to 27 knots but they managed well in the end and were able to have a convincing finish.
