Terry McDermott hails Kenny Dalglish’s impact at Liverpool and calls for his confirmation- EPL News
Former Liverpool legend Terry McDermott has hailed Dalglish’s impact since he took over in January from Roy Hodgson and wants the owners to confirm his position as a manager before it’s too late. He added that Dalglish is the right
man to take the club forward and he has proved it ever since he took over the manager's role.
Liverpool have seen a remarkable change in fortunes under Dalglish and the club now stand on the verge of European qualification. The Scot took over when the club was sitting in a disappointing 12th place after a poor start
to the season. The Reds will qualify for the UEFA Europa League next season if they retain the fifth place at the end of the season.
McDermott was all praise for his former team-mate and claimed it’s only a matter of time before Dalglish gets the job on a permanent basis. He admitted that it would be a huge mistake on part of the club if Kenny is not hired as he
has been brilliant with the players.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 midfielder stated that the new owners should hand the manager the money he wants and let him make the signings and see the results next season.
“Kenny has turned the club around and got the players playing for him. They [the board] should announce it straight away. They should stay he’s staying for two or three years and give him the money he needs to bring players in, because
they do need that. They need a fresh impetus. If they give him money he’ll buy the right players and they could be Champions League material next year,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international admitted that any delay on the owner’s part could be harmful for the club as it is difficult to lure players to your club if there is uncertainty on the managerial level.
“I’m sure he’s identified players he wants but until he gets the green light he can’t do anything. He’ll have his eyes on players he wants to get in, and players he wants to leave,” McDermott concluded.
Terry McDermott made 328 appearances for Liverpool and scored 80 goals in his eight years at the club.
