Terry Venables warns Manchester United of Fernando Torres threat at Stamford Bridge
Former England national team manager Terry Venables believes that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 poses a serious threat to Manchester United’s title ambitions this season. Chelsea and United will meet twice in the Premier League before the end of the season and Venables
claims that Torres will have a vital part to play in both encounters.
Chelsea signed Fernando Torres from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 during the final days of the January transfer window. The striker did not come cheap though, costing the Blues a reported £50 million. However, since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, the Spaniard has done little
to justify his huge price tag.
Torres had an uninspired debut for Chelsea. The Spaniard was substituted with almost a quarter of the game left to play. However, now that Torres has had time to settle at Stamford Bridge, Venables believes that the striker is starting to show why Chelsea
paid through the nose for his services.
The former England manager said, “He may not have been exactly wonderful in Copenhagen, but Fernando Torres certainly looked more like his old self on Tuesday [during http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s UEFA Champions League encounter against FC Copenhagen].”
Venables claimed that Torres would have an important part to play in Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures against Manchester United. The two sides are set to meet on 1st March at Stamford Bridge.
Venables said, “I am confident Chelsea can beat United to blow the title race open. Especially if Torres builds on the performance he produced in the 2-0 victory at FC Copenhagen. Like I said, it was not vintage El Nino, but it was a massive step in the
right direction.”
Even though Chelsea are out of the title race themselves, they could still have a massive impact on the destination of the Premier League crown. Second placed Arsenal will be hoping that the Blues can give them a helping hand by beating Manchester United
when the two sides clash on Tuesday.
Chelsea are currently in fifth place, 12 points behind leaders Manchester United.
