Terry Wales of Windsport Sailing Club hits top spot in 2012 RS700 Gul Grand Prix
Participants from around the UK had a great time sailing in the 2012 RS700 Gul Grand Prix at Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club as the conditions were quite impressive for a perfect sail throughout the regatta.
With some excellent sailing skills, Terry Wales of Windsport Sailing Club was able to claim the top spot in the final standings of the Grand Prix. With five bullets in his regatta campaign, Wales was able to hit the winning podium place with five points
after participating in six races, including a discard race.
The weather conditions at the Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club racing area were outstanding for perfect sailing from the beginning of the regatta.
The ideal winds did not come down at any stage which was a relief for the fleet members as they took advantage of the conditions and completed the scheduled races on time.
Wales began with a major blow to the rest of the fleet as he began his event campaign with a classy bullet in the opening race. After that the Windsport SC sailor breezed into four bullets with some classy sailing skills on the racing area.
Five bullets took him to the top spot of the fleet and he did not need to take part in the final race because it was supposed to be discarded in the end. Netley Sailing Club’s Tony Dencher occupied the second place with 10 points after collecting five second
finishes and a fifth place in the fifth race.
