Tesco, Asda - or somewhere else??

I have (for a change) just done my weekly shop in Asda. I normally spend £70 for the week for the family. I have bought exactly the same stuff in Asda as I would usually buy in Tesco and was staggered at the checkout when I found it was over £20 cheaper this week. Has anyone else found the same thing??.

  1. Yes asda is the cheapest, also their petrol is cheaper

  2. its all about sainsburys for me. plus m&s of course. asda is scum xx

  3. supermarkets are tricky in general, offers being the main thing and own brands.

I can go to tesco, buy their own brand pasta sauce for hhm 60p or so , and other brands the same size are £1.20 - 1.30

so although you may gain on one thing, you will lose on another.

there is a site which is good for shopping, that you might like

    http://www.madaboutbargains.co.uk/offers...

  4. Yes! stopped shopping at tesco´s 15yrs ago because they were too dear then... I find Morrison´s the cheapest!

  5. summerfeild & iceland....

but TESCO is THE place to shop ! =]

  6. The offers in each store changes from week to week.  In the long run I think they are much the same...and tesco gives out rewards too.

  7. Are you trying Netto and Aldi next week?

  8. morrisons is well cheaper

but yeah tescos can appear cheaper than it actually is

  9. If you want to compare prices I have found www.mysupermarket.co.uk really useful. You can pick out the products you normally buy and it can show you the prices (and any specially offers on) in the various supermarkets.

While I know that Asda is cheaper for certain products, I do find that Tesco's reward card is really good, especially if you go on line and see what offers you can get

  10. Asda, or Lidls, phenomenal value

  11. Asda and or Lidel do you have a Lidel in your area? Tesco and Dunnes seem to be more expensive.

  12. I totally understand.  Im not a big fan of Tescos or M&S and they would be the most expensive out of all the supermarkets.  I tend to shop between Asda and Aldi.  I  done my homework on aldi and understand how they work and why things are so cheap.  They cut out all the big frills in their stores and work with minimum staff (maybe 2 persons to a shift!) so they dont have to pay out on unnessesary staff.  Aldi offer a good rate of pay as its extreme hard work and they still save money in that way.  I really like the continental meats and super six fruit and veg, its all good quality.  I also like the process at the checkout as its different from Asda or Tesco and its so much faster and easier.  Because they work on minimal staff, the person on the till has to work shop floor and till.  You have to put all your shopping on the belt and swing your trolly round at the other side and fire all your shopping back in as you dont pack until away from the till allowing the next person in the queue to do the same - GERMAN EFFICENCY EH!!!  Its great, also remember to take bags with you as you have to pay for bags in the shop, which is great for the enviroment as it really makes you think twice about needing one or not. Aldi are one of the supermarkets of the world to be doing something about the enviroment, you should check out their website WWW.ALDI.COM and read more about how they work.  I am a real fan of Aldi and can understand why they are known worldwide.  There is also a brilliant write up on wikipedia, if you just type in aldi in the serch and it will come up with it. You will see a remarkable difference in a weeks shopping if you shop there, which in turn saves ALOT over a year, especially when feeding a family!!! LOL

  13. DNA replication help?

  14. Tesco

  15. Yeah, ASDA is totally the best supermarket in the UK right now. It has the biggest variety of products and are really cheap.

  16. Safeways

  17. i went shoppin in asda yesterday, spent £130!

  18. try Morrison

    it will be even better

  19. lol, yes! Tesco are quite expensive believe it or not. I only go there because they are closer than anywhere else. I love Morrisons as they are much cheaper too. If it was easier to get to I would shop there every week and give Tesco a wide berth.

  20. asda annoys me because of the pervy butt slapping advert that was being aired not so long, u remember the " thats asda price"  followed by a pervy old cashier slapping the *** of some unsuspecting housewife. Apart from this unfair and probably unfounded predujice i have against asda, well sure i found they are cheaper but i also found a toenail in my tomatoe soup. oh well u get wot u pay for!

  21. Yes, Asda is definatly a lot cheaper, i always shop there!
