  1. To those people that buy at the supermarkets because they are "cheap". Ask your self this

    1. Is it possible to sell something that you have bought for less than you paid for it AND make a profit?

    No its not is it

    2. Has the cost of your overall grocery bill gone down or up over the last 10yrs? (The age of the Supermarket)

It will have gone up or maybe been fairly stable but it will not genuinely have gone down.

    3. Have the supermarkets all been saying "We have cut back, rolled backed or nailed down prices" for the last 10 yrs?

    Yes they have

    4. Have the costs for there producers over the last 10 years been reduced?

No generally the cost of running any business over the last 10 yrs i.e. wages, basic ingrdients, fuel, power, rates, rent, property purchase have increased by lets say a conservative 30%

    5. Are the supermarkets somehow exempt from rises in the same costs that their suppliers are affected by?

No they are not. Except maybe that they blag or possibly bribe local authorities into giving them reduced rates and of course they only have a majority of part time workers who are paid under the NI payment level therfore they avoid paying an extra 12% in Employers NI contributions compared to those who create real jobs.

So if you put those 5 simple facts in context the supermarkets have two choices they can either raise the price of the goods they sell to cover the extra costs incurred which they wont d because they have led the general public by the nose into believeing that ever decreasing cost is viable (same as pigs can fly)  or they can substitute real fresh food for stuff which is messed about with i.e. injected with water etc, cured in brine. ( this increses the density of all meats and means that you the "canny consumer" pay for water not meat)

They can also reduce waste by adding preservatives etc. What they dont have to do is research the long term effect of the addition of these things after all each is individual tested and water is only water right? well maybe but maybe the combined effect of these "safe" additives has helped to fuel the current obesity "epidemic". maybe these additives if taken in sufficient quantities are also sufficient to change behaviour. after all the no onel else admits  they are to blame for the bad behaviour of society today.

    Just some thoughts

  2. Tesco are trying to take over the world, and they are doing quite a good job of it.  They are the devil!!!

  3. I hate Tesco. They are aggressive, arrogant, ruthless and greedy.

They put nut warnings on all of their products just to avoid litigation - my son suffers from an acute nut allergy so it's useless shopping there. They don't care about their customers or they'd research the sources of their foodstuffs more thoroughly - they're just doing this because they're scared of being sued and losing even more of their precious, precious money!

I hate them and I hope they go out of business......their fruit and veg is substandard too and I've heard that their meat isn't fresh. They only seem to sell their own products which are sh*t.

I like shopping at Sainsburys - the food is good quality and the staff are well trained and always friendly. Tesco staff are a bunch of moronic chavs who can't utter any word that contains more than two syllables..........I hope Tesco suffers from a major food poisoning outbreak at some point and everyone stops going there!

  4. its good to have that choice.

  5. In general I would rather go to the supermarket, friendly staff ,lots of variety, food well within the sell by date, quite cheap. But obviously even supermarkets have their dirty tricks-like playing sad music to make you buy more and downgrading the quality of ingredients, while expecting you to continue buying the stuff.

  6. It would be nice if the tesco in our town did sell more, they do cards, mags, a few toys dvds etc but no clothing ar craft stuff.

My town is full of estate agents, take aways and very high priced clothing that's either old fashioned or just plain nasty.

I do get where you are coming from but in some resects for those of us that can't afford to spend £175 on a pair of jeans or even £40 if you are like me, go to places like Tesco and Asda, nearest Asda is 14 miles away!

  7. Its good because u can buy things u want until late on at night and because its cheaper than nearly everywhere else, but I do feel sorry for other businesses because its very hard for them to compete against them. I think Tesco is starting to take over everything and it shouldnt be allowed to, though it does make things cheaper for customers short term but what will happen in the long run?

  8. Yes , it`s always good to have a lot of variety of goods in supermarkets because this is best way of attracting alot of consumers  and tesco , asda and other supermarkets  are  doing a great business because of their  cheapness  and  good quality products.

  9. I love tesco

  10. i think the thing with tesco and other supermarkets is that it's  convenience people don't want to be running around from shop to shop buying food etc , we have a local butchers and i do use them mainly cause there meat is a  lot nicer and reasonably priced

  11. Good to have the choice - I buy what I can (veg, meat, dairy) fromlocal markets but I go to tesco for the rest.

  12. Its great to get everything you need under the one roof. If i had plenty of time then yes, it'd be great to buy from lots of different smaller businesses.

  13. I wouldn't mind if tescos sold just grocery products, but they want every penny out of your pocket.

If a local business is doing well within 12 months they'll be selling the same products at cut price, not just to sell you that but to get you in the store.

My local tescos has plants and garden items every summer sold from a tent in the car park.

Tescos do nothing for the town scape they just make all your old favorite independant traders slowly choke and go out of business.

Leaving your high street full of charity shops, estate agents  and bookmakers?

  14. The supermarkets are always at war over prices and its great to know you can go to one place and get everything in one go.

But, I do believe people should use the local markets when they are open to support local producers..

  15. They have Tescos all over Hungary too, where all my relative live. They say it is very damaging to all the little shops in the smaller villages.

I understand it is more convenient to shop at a supermarket like Tesco, but it's sad that all those little shops that gave the villages a certain flair had to close down....
