hi i work in tesco i see these other tesco workers on an ilse

with a machine pointing at the items on the shelfs whats it for?

its like a machine with a screen and buttons on anyone seen them?

  1. its called a PDA, personell (something) assistant. its for checking prices, quantity of stock etc etc.  

    i used to work for tesco.


  2. I used to work for Safeway as stock management (not shelf stacker) Had these machines (if memory is correct) is called an S.E.T mahine. Self edge ticket i think. They are used to find out various things i.e stock quantity etc Staff scan the gaps/low spots and it sends it to the computer to order more stock. I would think this is used in most supermarkets, kind of like an e.p.o.s system  (o.s Ordering system i think)

  4. its an authenticity tester. if the product getting scanned by the thingymbob is not red white and blue the store will commence lockdown.

  5. Its called an FOA gun....they used it to do stock counts/checks....im not sure what FOA stands for but we use it all the time on the Deli counter in sainsburys.

  6. it reads the bar codes giving info on the product
