Tessa Wallace wins 100m butterfly event in style - Day four of 2011 Australian Age Championships
Stunningly, Tessa Wallace of Sunshine Coast picked the top seed in the Women’s 17-18yrs 100m butterfly meet with a winning time of 1:01.72 at the end of the fourth day of Australian Age Championships in Adelaide on Thursday.
It was really one of the most remarkable performances in swimming for the 2010 Commonwealth Games silver medallist in the following meet today.
After winning the 100m fly race, Wallace felt very happy and satisfied with her performance.
In the meantime, Nicole Mee placed second in the respective meet with an impressive time of 1:01.83 and Leah Bird of Hunter wound up third in a time of 1:02.39.
In the Boy’s 17-18yrs 100m butterfly event, Chris Raven of Trans Tasman captured the first spot with a sterling time of 55.16. Meanwhile, Kenneth To wound up second in a time of 55.21 and Justin James of Mackay settled third in a time of 55.38.
Mikkayla Sheridan of Queensland won the Girl’s 16yrs 200m freestyle event with an incredible time of 2:04.78. On the other hand, Jenna Liimatainen of Cherrybrook captured the second place in the following meet with a time of 2:04.93 and Emma Duncan of South
Australia settled third in a time of 2:05.81.
After qualifying for the final in the 200m freestyle, Sheridan was extremely excited and pleased with her performance in swimming today.
On the other side, Corey Main of New Zealand grabbed the first place in the Boy’s 16yrs 200m freestyle with a dominating time of 1:54.81. Placing second in the respective meet was Cameron McEvoy, while Hugo Morris settled third in a time of 1:56.17.
Cameron McEvoy has already captured the three golden crowns in the Boy’s 16yrs 50m, 100m and 400m freestyles in this championship.
In the Girl’s 14yrs freestyle, it was the performance of Carlile’s Ami Matsuo that captivated the entire attention of the crowd, as she picked up the top seed in this meet with a stunning time of 26.60.
Meanwhile, Tatum Marais managed the second place with a time of 26.92 and Naomi Smit wound up third in a time of 26.97. It will be exciting to see how these swimmers compete against each other in the finals at Adelaide.
The Boy’s 14yrs free event was taken over by Paul Van Westing of New Zealand with a fabulous time of 24.70. However, Angus Hannan took the second place with a slight margin of two seconds. He completed his distance with a clear time of 24.72 in the following
meet. During the previous night, he won the Boy’s 14yrs 100m freestyle title in Adelaide. Finally, Edward Marks wound up third with a decisive time of 24.82.
