Test Cricket matters to us, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746 – Cricket News Update
Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625
Cricket World Cup 2011, the Indian cricket worshipers still want their team to be at the top of the world Test rankings.
Ganguly expressed these views in an interview with the BBC. The ‘Dada of cricket’ is in London where Team India are playing their 4-match npower Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
As the Indians have lost the first two Tests of the series and are likely to collapse in the 3rd one that is on run at Edgbaston, Birmingham, there is a common perception that they have lost momentum, form and passion for cricket.
Their current No 1 spot is in question and they are unable to justify it as they have failed badly in all three departments.
Their ace batsmen like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772 seem to be off-tracked and the bowlers are fighting against injuries and fatigue to keep the ball rolling.
India’s would-be defeat in the ongoing match will take the top slot away from them and this is going to be a severe blow.
The Men in Blue, who gloriously played and won the World Cup at their home grounds, have suddenly lost all pride and fame by collapsing in this series. Now, they are facing tough criticism and humiliation.
Despite this gloomy situation, Ganguly is still hopeful of his former team’s revival and claims that Indians will soon bounce back. He suggests that they should put more focus on the Test cricket.
He said, “Test cricket matters to us. Indian people still want their team to be No 1 in Test cricket. The World Cup is special for any country. But Test cricket is the format of the game.”
He further told, “But I bet once they start winning he will have a great time because they are well behaved, professional people.”
Ganguly played 113 Tests and scored 7212 runs before retiring from International cricket in 2008.
