Test cricket remain my top priority – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umesh-Yadav-c94625 – Cricket News Update
Indian pacer, Umesh Yadav who has the rare ability to consistently clock 140km/http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hugh-Morris-c63550, is intent on prolonging his Test career even if it means relinquishing the limited-overs format of the game.
Currently on tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 with the national side, Yadav had little hesitation in showing approval for the longer version, which in recent times has taken a back seat in his home country owing to the emergence of T20 cricket.
However, the player remains eager to help his side cement their dominancy in Test format, especially after the recent debacles to England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Yadav was a part of the tour Down Under, where his performances were noteworthy, claiming his first and only five-for to date, despite fading away as the series progressed.
He had already caught the eye during his debut Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at home, where he picked up nine wickets in the opening two matches, which were notable due to the non-conducive nature of the tracks.
After performing well during the IPL season five, focus now firmly shifts on his international commitments, which sees the Men in Blue prepare for another tough six-month cricketing period. After the conclusion of the five-match ODI series against the Lankans, the Asian Giants will invite the Kiwis over before contesting in the World T20 Cup.
Following the mega event, they will then play host to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, where the rotation of fast bowlers will be necessary. Yadav however, feels fit and raring to go after getting a deserved one-and-half month rest.
"It was certainly a good break for me. Before the Asia Cup, I had been playing continuous cricket for the past three-four years. However, I have been looked after well by the team management and BCCI,” he said.
He then further declared his intentions of concentrating on Test cricket.
“I want to play in all the formats but for me, Test cricket remain my top priority. If the team management and the selectors want to preserve me for the longer format, I am fine with it. I want to play for the country for long with same intensity. I am not somebody who would like to cut down on my pace, he added.”
