Test cricket remains the acme for cricketers, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384 – Cricket News Update
The former New Zealand captain, and one of the best left-arm spinners of the modern age, Daniel Vettori, has expressed that Test cricket is still the biggest stage for a cricketer and any player who starts to play the game, dreams of becoming a Test cricketer.
Since the induction of limited-overs format of the game at the International level in the 1970s, it has attracted huge crowds all around the world. People love to watch their stars playing One Day International cricket and T20s, however, Vettori feels that
Test cricket is the acme for the players.
After the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 requires him in the next mega
event, which is scheduled to be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and New Zealand jointly, in 2015.
The left-arm spinner has no regrets of taking this decision and says that he is going to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 with it in future as well. Even though, franchise cricket has gained immense popularity, Vettori thinks that no form of the game can replace the five-day format.
Vettori expressed, “I love Test cricket, it is the game I grew up on and love playing and being involved in. The decision I made to stick to Test cricket is one of the best ones I made and will stick with that as long as I can. Hopefully Test Cricket remains
the integral part of the cricketing landscape.”
Kiwi cricket has gone through a lean patch off-late and the former captain is of the opinion that one of the major drawbacks for the Black Caps has been the fact that they never had the services of a high-class opening batsman. He feels that competent opening
batsmen are absolutely crucial, if a team has to do well at the biggest stage of the game.
“New Zealand haven’t generally had a rich history of opening batsman with averages in fifties like say Australia or http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 so that’s something that’s always a drawback,” the left-arm spinner feels.
