Test event for the 26th Southeast Asian Games announced – Beach Volleyball latest
The Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) has recently disclosed the competition schedule of the Asia Pacific Beach Volleyball Invitational. The thrilling Asian beach volleyball campaign will get underway in the second week of October this year. The
tournament will be officially opened on October 12 and it will reveal the final standings on October 17. The Jakabaring Sport City in Palembang, Indonesia will be used as the host venue. The same location has been used in the SEA Games, which is biennial multi-sport
event involving many Southeast Asian countries. The Asia Pacific Beach Volleyball Invitational will be held one month before the opening of the 26th SEA Games.
The Asia Pacific Beach Volleyball Invitational is a practice tournament for the 2011 Southeast Asian Games. The Pacific tournament will run as test to check the court conditions and other factors. The chief supervisor of PBVSI beach volleyball division,
Slamet Mulyanto, expressed his thoughts about the Pacific tournament and stated: “This invitational event is part of the 26th SEA Games test event. We hope to test the court condition and the organizing committee’s preparations toward hosting the SEA Games.”
According to the plan, around 24 beach volleyball pairings from 12 Asian countries will join the event. In this regards, Asian champions Thailand and Kazakhstan will be on top of the list, while tandems from Iran, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore, Philippines,
New Zealand, Australia, India and host Indonesia will also jump on board to showcase their beach volleyball skills.
Furthermore, teams from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia will also be invited to attend the Asian Pacific Beach Volleyball Invitational.
The 2011 Asia Pacific Beach Volleyball Invitational will offer Rp 150 million to the successful tandems. The prize money will be provided by the Indonesia SEA Games Organizing Committee (INASOC), while the major sponsors of the Southeast Games PT Djarum tobacco
company will also assist in this regard.
The Asia Pacific Tournament will not only test the venue but it will also create an amazing opportunity for aspiring teams for the SEA Games. The players will be able to get hands on experience and it will surely enhance their game ability.
