Test reveal legend Gary Carter’s brain tumors increased – MLB News
A Major League legend and former catcher, Gary Carter, who is currently fighting brain cancer now faces some more serious issues regarding his tumors increasind day-by-day.
Recently test results have revealed that Carter’s brain tumors are now increasing and it might bring more worry for the 57-year-old.
Apart from his brain cancer, Carter was considered one of the best during his professional career in MLB. Carter played almost 19 years at the highest level, representing the Montreal Expos along with New York Mets, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.
He was the key player of Mets’ roster when they won the World Series Championship back in 1986. Proving his game as an All Star eleven times with three Gold Glove awards, five Silver Sluggers, two time MLB All Star Game Most Valuable Player and Roberto Clemente Award, Gary Carter certainly took his game seriously whenever he played.
His particular catching position made him very famous. Baseball historians say that Carter was the one in MLB who made catching so much fun and competitive. Even Carter himself has said in the past about his unique art of catching that made him a real superstar.
Carter had said, “It is a grueling position (catching). My knees will tell you that. I've had nine knee surgeries. I've had a couple of broken thumbs, one on each hand. I can look back at it and say it's worth it to be enshrined in Cooperstown. I don't have any pain in my knees right now. My first year in the big leagues I divided time between catching with Barry Foote and playing the outfield. It wasn't until my breakthrough year in 1977, when I had the opportunity to catch every day under d**k Williams, that I hit thirty-one home runs.”
What Gary has achieved in his professional baseball career is something very rare. His past contribution making baseball more competitive and offensive is somewhat highly regarded by all the MLB historians. However, now his condition may get worse and he will need a boost from his fans around the world to support him during this trying time.
