Question:

Test-taking tips?!?!?

Ok, so on a multiple choice scantron test, some people say to answer it and make a mark to get back to questions u don't know, then go back to it if u have time. But the problem is- when u go back to it, u often second-guess your first instinct, and ur first instinct is almost always the right answer.

But usually, you have to take some time on tricky questions. and if you spend too much time, it can sometimes be difficult to finish the test on time.

What is the best test-taking strategy in this situation?

  1. Your first guess if usually the best one.  go back and check always; but remember, if you were pacing yourself you probably didn'e make a mistake.  But if you know you were going too fast or don't really know the material then double check yourself.  But if know you don't really know what you're doing then there's no use of double guessing is there?  Consider this, if you've studied you probably didn't make mistakes.  So be sensible and confident.  Only look for stupid mistakes you've made.  But usually the first guess is the best one.
