Question:

Tested well enough on the PSAT for National Merit qualification but have not been notified?

I tested well above the cutoff score for National Merit qualification in my state but I have not been contacted at all. Some friends from other states all received letters of congratulations. If I didn't get a letter does that mean that I didn't qualify? Am I supposed to just wait for further notification? How do you become a NM semi-finalist or finalist?

  1. My guidance counselor talked to me. You should get a form sometime during your 1st semester of your senior your. I'd wait or talk to my guidance counselor.

  2. Usually notification comes around September or October (or at least in TX it does) with like a letter. I got a letter back in April I think for doing well on the PSAT but I'm not sure if that was the "commended" letter or not. Wait until early of the first semester to see if you got a letter or not.
