Testicular torsion surgery?

last night i went to the ER and was diagnosed with testicular torsion. the doctor untwisted the t******e and told me to set up a date within the next few days for surgery. for those that have had the surgery

how long does the surgery take?

were you released the same day?

how long until you could do everyday things?

was the pain after really bad?

anything else i need to know?

Do not even THINK about rejecting this surgery. Torsion is not only extremely painful but can cause the "death" of the t******e through lack of blood.

The surgery is only about half an hour.  Many surgeons prefer to keep you at the very least overnight for observation, as you will probably have a general anasthetic and infection must be avoided.  A week or so wearing a suspensory bandage is usually the case, then light duties for about month.  The post-op pain is controlled with "serious" drugs and should be quite bearable.

Note however that YMMV.  Surgeons often have their own special regimes that they have evolved by experience over many similar operations. The surgeon may also opt to do the other t******e at the same time, as this itself will have an increased future risk of torsion.  These are all questions you should discuss when you set the date.
