How does one go about getting their partners sperm tested, we have been ttc since january and have had two M/C in that time. I am 31 and he is 36. I just would like to know if getting us both tested would help us.

  1. My OBGYN ordered one for my hubby. We joke about how hubby has his own OBGYN now LOL. We had it done at 8 months TTC.

  2. Well, since you are under the age of 35 (he would need to be closer 40 to go in after 6 months) you really need to wait for a year before going to see a reproductive endocrinologist but you surely can go to your OB/Gyn as anyone should who is trying to conceive.  You can do a test on your own for male fertility - the link below is from a company that gets 4.5 stars on the Google shopping ratings.

Obviously you can conceive but perhaps you need to be tested for a clotting disorder or perhaps fibroids, sometimes there are other things that are interfering with fertility that can be treated.  Essentially you have eggs and he has healthy sperm to get you pregnant with, however there are other things that can cause reoccurring miscarriages.

  3. I am so sorry for your loss.

Contacting both your doctors for testing would be a good idea - you can start with your gynecologist and he can go to his primary physician (his doctor might refer him to a urologist).

As you have been pregnant (his sperm count is "probably" ok and your tubes should be clear), the focus will probably be more on you then him- checking your hormone levels - lots of blood testing.  Checking your FSH - follicle stimulating hormone, TSH - thyroid function and progesterone.

    Good luck and baby dust!
