Testing for alkene with bromine water?

Is using ethene more preferable when testing for alkene with bromine water, because of its simple structure and contains 1 double bond, so it can easily be reacted with bromine water. Hence a faster colour change? Please list your sources if possible

  1. Ethene is a gas. Not the best then to be using to demonstrate that alkenes react with bromine, although you can bubble it through aq Br2. I like cyclohexene. A liquid at RT so it can be pipetted easily. The stain in the double bond makes it more reactive than if the bond were not in the ring.
