Testing trio for the Book Your 22nd October Totesport Package Handicap
There are not a lot of entries in the Class 4 Book Your 22nd October Totesport Package Handicap who have not raced at Pontefract before leave alone creating a lasting impact through the outcome of the chance. Thirteen three-year-old and above
contestants will race over a mile and four yards on Thursday, 20th September.
The only entry who did race at the track and ended up bagging the prize money is the three-year-old bay gelding, Byronic Hero. The Jedd O’Keeffe trained has raced seven times during the new season, thrice out of which were at Pontefract.
The three-year-old penetrated into the 2012 campaign on 10th April, 2012 in the Dalby Stand Handicap at Pontefract over six furlongs. He ended sixth in the field of fifteen while the race was won by, Es Que Love.
Two more failures down the season had Byron’s gelding landing the Bet Totepool On All Irish Racing Handicap on 24th June, 2012 at Pontefract over six furlongs.
His last three outings have been nothing short of a disaster which includes a dreadful sixteenth position in a race at Pontefract.
The 25 to 1 entry will race with jockey, Micky Fenton, and the two will take off from the tenth gate. It is only his experience at the race track that sets him aside from the competition in the field otherwise his performance curve has been on the down low.
Another entry who deserves respect is the four-year-old chestnut gelding, Alfred Hutchinson. Out of the four starts that he undertook during the new season, he has downed two.
The Geoffrey Oldroyd trained cleared his maiden stakes in the Name A Race To Enhance Your Brand Maiden Stakes on 23rd January, 2012 at Wolverhampton over a mile and 1 ½ furlongs.
His next winning stop was the John Wright Electrical Apprentice Handicap on 26th May, 2012 at York over a mile.
The 7 to 1 chance has drawn the thirteenth post and will be accompanied by the jockey, Robert Winston.
Another entry who might be filling up on the gaps today is the four-year-old grey gelding, Yojimbo. He finished a note worthy third in the HWFA Williams Handicap (Division I) on 14th September, 2012 at Sandown over a mile.
The 9 to 2 shot will race with jockey, Martin Harley.
