Tetra pak...recycling?

right, you know them cartons...tetra pak..

well i've heard they can be recycled..but where?

neither of my recycling bins takes them, so where is it you can recycle them in the uk?

  1. If you go to tetra pak website they have a list of places that recycle them. About 2/3 of counties have them across the uk. after the company realised that they have become even more unsustainable than most other  tetrapaks are made from paper, with plastic lining and aluminium so they have to be taken apart first. Take a look at the web but it appears that they are just collecting them and dont have a commercial scale recycling facility in the uk yet but that they are planning this. My understanding also is that it takes more energy to separate the materials than if you recycle them straight. Another assumption I have therefore is that none of the material collected from tetrapaks is actually reused to make further tetrapak cartons.
