Tevez hat-trick takes down Baggies
Carlos Tevez celebrated his 27th birthday in style by scoring a hat-trick in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at the Eastlands on Saturday evening. He became only the second player in the Premier League after Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink
to score a hat-trick on his birthday.
Edin Dzeko was demoted to the bench as City played with a 4-5-1 formation with Tevez as the lone striker. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pablo-Zabaleta-c29022 and Yaya Toure were recalled to the squad after missing the midweek fixture against Birmingham City. West Brom boss, Roberto
Di Matteo, made four changes to his lineup that played against Wigan Athletic.
Manchester City started the game strong and should have taken the lead in the fourth minute when Tevez hit the post from ten yards out with a volley. West Brom enjoyed a few decent efforts early in the game. A beautifully curled free kick from 25 yards by

Hart was again forced into action when he tipped a looping header from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonas-c18967 Olsson over the bar. City was awarded a penalty in the 15th minute when Aleksander Kolarov was brought down in the box. Tevez stepped up to take the penalty and made
it 1-0 for the home side. Five minutes later Tevez doubled the lead for the Citizens. The Argentinean showed wonderful footwork in the box to escape his marker before slipping a shot beyond Boaz Myhill.
City was the dominant force as West Brom hardly troubled the home side goal. In the 37th minute the referee awarded another penalty to City after Jermoe Thomas touched the ball with his hand while trying to control it. Tevez took the penalty and
it found the back of the net easily. The Argentinean finished beautifully past Myhill, who couldn’t cope with the pace and direction of the ball.
Both teams came close to scoring before the half time whistle and James Morrison’s thunderous volley was saved by Hart. Tevez could have scored his fourth goal of the evening but the ball hit the post and he was denied.
The visitors came out attacking in the second half and almost pulled a goal back in the 47th minute when Peter Odemwingie’s shot went just wide of the post. Moments later, Marc Antoine Fortune, blew a golden chance to score. His effort from Yusuf
Mulumbu’s through pass hit the side nettings.
Albion never gave up and pushed for a breakthrough but they were performing poorly in front of the goal. City twice came close to scoring their fourth, first through Tevez and then again as Dzeko’s shot went inches away from goal.
It was a perfect result for the home side as they closed the gap on leaders Manchester United and Arsenal, who both spilled points in their encounters. Manchester City’s next premier league match will be the Manchester Derby at Old Trafford next week.
