Tevez unconcerned about wrath of United supporters
Manchester City’s star striker Carlos Tevez claims that he is not worried about being jeered by Manchester United supporters when his side goes up against the Red Devils in the Manchester derby on 12 February.
Tevez left Manchester United back in the summer of 2009 due to irreconcilable differences between him and manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The Argentinean chose to sign for cross town rivals Manchester City, making him public enemy number
one amongst the United faithful.
The striker will surely be singled out for abuse by the fans when Manchester City travel to Old Trafford on Saturday. However, Tevez claims to be unconcerned about the opinions of the United supporters.
Speaking on the upcoming Manchester derby, Tevez said, “I don't care about people booing me at Old Trafford. It doesn't worry me and I'm not worried about going there (Old Trafford).”
Tevez has already played at Old Trafford with his new club, and he has first-hand experience of the wrath of the fans.  The Argentinean said, “The booing happened a lot last year, but I understand. As a supporter, you defend your club and I am on the opposing
team now.”
However, Tevez will not be losing focus of his ultimate goal – walking away from the Manchester derby with all three points. The Red Devils travelled to Eastlands earlier in the season and held the Citizens to a disappointing draw. However, Tevez believes
that Manchester City now have what it takes to pull off an upset against their bitter rivals.
The Argentinean said, “Playing against Manchester United is a big incentive but it's not just because of personal issues for me. It's about the importance of three points. We want to go to Old Trafford and win.”
Manchester City currently lie in third place in the Premier League table, five points behind leaders Manchester United. It remains to be seen whether the Citizens can reduce that deficit when the two sides go head-to-head this weekend.
The game will also hold added significance for United’s other main title rivals, Arsenal, who will be hoping to take advantage of any slips ups from the Red Devils.
