Tevez wants to quit football
Carlos Tevez, the newly appointed Manchester City captain has spoken out to the media about his unhappiness with the beautiful game, saying that he was considering retiring.
The Argentine striker told reporters, “I have been playing many games this season, and my body is feeling it. I am tired. I started to play when I was really young and I have always fought so much but now I'm feeling the effort. I'm an old guy now, and I
started to think about some stuff. For example, I am less tolerant as a person today than I was a few years ago”.
This new revelation will be worrying for Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, who has built his squad around his new captain. Tevez is only 26 years old, and would be considered young by many, but it seems the footballer has lost his interest and is
ready to move on from life as he knows it.
He added, “Then I think - what happens if I quit football as long as I am okay in my life? When I talk about quitting, I mean quitting football, not just the national team. But at the moment I still don't know if this is going to be in one month, one year,
three or five years. I have the idea of quitting in my mind. Maybe one of these days, I will just wake up and say no more football”.
It’s somewhat understandable what the Argentine international is going through, he started off when he was really young and has not had a break. And having played in England for a while, he is aware as to how cruel the English media can be and just the general
pressure of football in England. The striker also revealed that he was missing home and being away from home for so long was taking its toll.
Tevez also insisted to the fact that he has not only worked hard to enjoy his football, but has also found it to be a fight to try and play in England. He said that he has spent around five years playing in England and during that entire period, he did not
once spend Christmas with his family. Leading him to question as to whether football is more important to him then his family, since he is currently not really enjoying the perks that come with being a footballer, since he can't share them with his family.
Tevez moved from Manchester United to City last summer and was an instant hit, despite not performing as well as was expected of him. With the arrival of Roberto Mancini as manager, Tevez was give the captain’s arm band and since then has stepped up his
game.
Tevez has carried his terrific form of being one of the best players this season with Manchester City. He even went on to score the crucial goal against Chelsea that asserted Manchester City's step into the big league and their ability to roll with the big
boys. That being said, it would be nothing short of a heart break for the world of football to witness someone as good as Tevez quit the game since there is so much more the player has to offer to the game and to the fans.
