Texan Andre Johnson’s participation against Jacksonville Jaguars hangs in balance – NFL News
The status of Texan wide receiver Andre Johnson for the weekend game against the Jacksonville Jaguars continues to hang in balance despite the Texan’s participation in full practice session with teammates on Wednesday.
The player had turned to full practice session after sitting outside three games. Earlier he took part in smaller grills before turning up for the full session.
Texan coach Gary Kubiak had been thrilled to have Johnson back for the practice session. He commented, “It's a huge step forward. It's just good to get him out of working on his own mode and work with the players. I think it's going to be a process this week, but there's obviously a chance (he'll play). It'll be a day-to-day deal."
However, Kubiak added that the team management would review Johnson in coming days to see if he was fit for the Sunday game against the Jaguars.“But today is not Sunday. We still have some days."
Johnson himself however remained cautious about his recovery and fitness. He was not much optimistic about his participation in the Sunday’s game. "If I feel the way I feel today, I probably won't play Sunday," Johnson said after the workout.
The wide receiver practiced on limited basis earlier during the week. He had gone out in the field to participate in the drill for some time.
Johnson got injured in the match against Pittsburgh on October 2, giving rise to speculations that the professional would require at least six weeks to recover. However, given the speedy recovery and the practice session, Johnson’s chances of playing on Sunday have increased greatly.
According to Johnson, he did not feel as he expected to but he was still able to make a few plays. The professional complained of jerks while playing and clearly stated that should he continue to feel this way, he will sit for Sunday’s game.
Houston Texans will be playing Jaguars in the 8th week of NFL season. Jaguars have the ability to win against Texans and decrease the winning margin between them. However, the biggest problem that Texans suffered during week 4 game against Steelers was to lose Andre Johnson due to hamstring injury. He has not played any game since.
