Texans' wide receiver Andre Johnson to stay out of next game – NFL News
The Houston Texans are going into their next game against the Indianapolis Colts without their receiver Andre Johnson this Thursday night.
Andre Johnson has suffered a hamstring injury about three weeks ago and has not played any game since, and the team management confirmed on Wednesday that he will be out on the sideline in their game against the Colts.
This will be his third straight miss for last three consecutive games and ninth in total this season. Johnson had missed six consecutive games earlier in the season due to same injury.
Texans coach Gary Kubiak said despite that the player has made significant improvement in his recovery he was still short of making it to their next game.
The side, which have been through the problem of injuries to its key players over past four weeks, have successfully survived the scare to go on to win division title and claim playoff berth.
They while having won the American Football Conference (AFC) south title and making it to playoff sit comfortably in the league. It is for the first time in their franchise history that the Texans have made it to playoff.
The Houston Texans have two more games to play to finish off current regular season of the National Football League (NFL). They are at the top of AFC south with the score of 10-4.
This looked very much uncertain for the side at one point when their key players started falling prey to injuries.
Their key starter quarterback Matt Schaub was first one to go due to a foot surgery. He was immediately ruled out of the side for rest of the season given he had very few chances for timely recovery from his surgery.
Schaub was replaced by the Matt Leinart but unlucky for him he could only manage a half hour play at his position before being sent out on the sideline for a shoulder injury. Later he was confirmed to have suffered a season-ending
collarbone and was forced out from the squad for their remaining games this year. This was Leinart’s first game after his return from an injury in 2009.
The injuries forced the team management to reshuffle the side to introduce changes at the key positions. They promoted their fifth round pick T.J.Yates to be their quarter number one. Backing him at number two and three, respectively,
were their new signee veterans Jake Delhomme and Jeff Garcia. Both the players have played the professional football for over ten years.
