Texans favourites to win tie against Colts on Thursday night – NFL Preview
Odds seem are all set in favour of the Houston Texans in their next game against the Indianapolis Colts this Thursday night unless the Colts pull off an upset in their second last game of the current regular season of the National
Football League (NFL).
The Colts who were without a win in their first 13 consecutive games managed to claim a victory in their last game against the Tennessee Titans on past Sunday. The win has helped the side avoid their first 0-16 score in the league.
Their turn around however matters the least for both sides: the Texans and Colts. The Houston Texans have already won the American Football Conference (AFC) south title. They are also through to playoff.
The Colts who are down at the score of 1-14 with just two more games to go to close the current NFL season have no chance either for the divisional title or playoff berth.
The win however will be a major boost for the side in absence their quarterback Peyton Manning following their last week win. Manning has not played a single game for the Colts this season due to his neck injury despite being on
their active roster throughout the season. He has now completely been ruled out of the side this season.
"I think (the Colts are) feeling very good after what happened last week," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. "You know, the Thursday night game gets a lot of attention. We know they'll play well. Like I said, our history in that building
hasn't been very good, so we're going to have to go change that and play much better."
The Colts now feel thrilled and are aiming for improvement in their score position to make it to 3-16 at end of the season.
"Any time you get a win, it's good, and these guys have been working hard," Coach Jim Caldwell said. "The guys haven't been complaining, they've worked together, they've fought together, so it's good to get a good result. I think
it gives our guys a little bit of a lift."
Meanwhile the Texans are with the problems of their own on the injuries side. They are without their main quarterbacks Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart due to a foot and collarbone injuries.
Their newly elevated quarterback T.J. Yates after having started well in a couple of games was seen fumbling in the last game. The fifth round draft pick rookie who is in his first season of the league is given the starting role
as a replacement to Schaub and Leinart.
He has Jake Delhomme and Jeff Garcia as his backup. Both veterans were signed by the Texans recently. Both of them have played the professional football for over a decade and returned from the retirement to join the Texans.
