Texans’ quarterback Matt Leinart’s surgery delayed due to an illness – NFL News
Houston Texans quarterback Matt Leinart has been made to further wait for surgery for his collarbone injury due to an illness until next week.
The player had been given coming Thursday schedule for his surgery. He however was told now that his date had been rescheduled for Tuesday next week. There was no information on specific reasons behind the delay except for that
Leinart has an unknown illness.
Matt Leinart had suffered the injury in his last game for the Houston Texans on past Sunday. He was helped by the trainers and teammates to locker room for apparently a shoulder injury.
Initial tests results however were inconclusive, but further scans revealed that he had suffered a collarbone. He watched rest of the game and Taylor Jonathan Yates playing at his position from the sideline.
Results from his scans have confirmed that the nature of his injury was serious and he was ruled out for rest of current National Football League (NFL) season. His team immediately started looking for his replacement.
Matt Leinart had staged a comeback first time since 2009. He had been brought in as replacement of Texans star quarterback Matt Schaub, who is also on the sideline for rest of the season nursing his foot injury.
Leinart despite all his excitement for playing at the quarterback position for the Texans managed only a half hour game on past Sunday before being injured and ruled out for another year.
Given the fact that he is expecting a long road to recovery after surgery he is unlikely for even playoff season. He might be able to join the Texans again in their training camp next year.
Leinart injury had complicated problems for the Houston Texans at quarterback position threatening to ruin their chances of maintaining their good record in the American Football Conference (AFC) south division as the current seasons
started to closing in on the playoffs.
Having lost their two key players to injuries in a short span of time they have gone for signing two new players. This included veteran Jake Delhomme who announced to end his retirement to join the Texans. He is playing for as
quarterback number two from this Sunday.
